Eyes See You

A playgful installation that animates wall and invites interaction!

In collaboration with Maria Roldan

Concept

Conceptually, the project deals with objectification, social pressure, and eye geometry and movement.
Design wise, it is split into three areas: the creation of eyes in a parametric manner, the arrangement of the eyes, and the sensors that control movement.

Programmed Eye Movement

dd

Rotate MovementStare

The eyes stare at someone waling by creating an angle between the sensor and initial location, and a vector, such that it always knows where to go next

Squeeze

The eyes squeeze when they don’t detect someone near ithe installation, so they look like they are searching

Jitter

The Iris/pupil are always slightly ittering, like normal eyes, by generating a random angle and a vector to the next position

Blink

The blinking of the eyes is trigerred by a boolean. The function first selects random pairs of eyes to blink, and then loops, so that each time it slightly reduced eyeheight. When the eyeheight is close to matching the closed target eyeheight it reverses the movement so the eyes open up again
